Hank is a 2- 3
year-old male Australian Cattle Dog / Aussie Mix. Hank was transported to us
sight unseen and was supposedly a BC. Boy, were we surprised when we saw him
as he does not have one speck of BC in him. We have affectionately dubbed him
our BC wannabe. He is shorter in stature and weighs in at about 35 lbs. His is
a tri colored smooth coat with heavy mottling, typical of cattle dogs. Hank
pretty well takes everything in stride. He gets along well with other dogs,
walks on a leash, and is crate trained. Hank rides well in a car, and will
kennel right up. He does not seem to bothered by children in the least. He is
a happy and quiet dog, and does not seem to have any obvious behavioral
issues. His personality can be described as easy going and he is an easy
keeper. Hank is an affectionate dog and would love nothing better than to be
your canine companion.
PATTY
Patty is an
adorable 18-24 month-old female black and white BC/Aussie mix. She has a bald
(all white) face, cute mottling and black patches. On the smaller side,
weighing in at about 35 pounds, she has a lovely smooth coat. Patty was picked
up as a stray from a high-kill shelter.
Patty is very sweet and
affectionate. She has shown no aggression towards other dogs in her foster
home. Typical of a dog her age, she is a bit of a wild child with lots of
energy, and will need an active home, as we rate her energy level as medium
high.
Patty would rather play than learn her lessons, and as with all
dogs, we recommend obedience training for optimal integration into your
family. She should settle down as she matures. She is learning not to jump on
humans, and small kids could get easily get knocked down by her exuberance.
Patty rides well in a crate, and walks decently on
leash.
JAXX
Jaxx is an 18-24
month-old male black and white Border Collie/Lab mix with a smooth coat.
Jaxx’s head has the confirmation of a Lab, while the rest of him looks BC.
Jaxx is a taller male and weighs in at about 50 lbs.
Jaxx came to us
via shelter and was a stray. Although he was in no danger at the shelter of
being euthanized, there was overcrowding and Jaxx was regulated to a
vari-kennel in a hall with little or no exercise during the day. Shelter
personnel asked us if we had room for him and the rest is history.
Jaxx
is an obedient dog who knows his basic commands. He is so happy to see you
that he very often will let out a loud woo woo to greet you. Jaxx loves to run
around and play with his foster siblings. He can be a bit of a fence fighter.
He is a dominant male, and although he does get along with the other dogs
while in foster care, he has shown that he wants to climb the pack hierarchy.
Based on this observation, at this time we are recommending that Jaxx be
placed and an only dog or with a submissive female. Jaxx requires
activity in his life, as he would make an excellent running or hiking partner.
He is fine on a leash, and is crate trained without any potty incidents. Crate
training is about 75% towards housebreaking, so Jaxx should end up with nice
house manners once he knows what is expected of him.
Jaxx can be a bit
exuberant, so he should be supervised around young children to make sure that
he does not knock them over. Jaxx is very food motivated, therefore, further
training or obedience will be easy. He craves interaction with his person, and
will be one of those dogs that will pretty much do anything that you ask of
him, especially if there are treats involved! Jaxx has a very nice personality
and his temperament can be characterized as affectionate and easy
going.
